Description
Victor Hilshire, born Victor Hartman, served as a German Europol detective at Interpol headquarters. His pursuit of a Dutch child torture group was blocked by his superior, citing emotional unsuitability. Partnering with French coroner Rachelle Belleut after gaining intelligence from Camorra leader Mario Bossi, Hartman raided a warehouse producing child snuff films. Belleut died shielding a critically injured young girl during the raid. Hartman and Bossi rescued the girl, evading Dutch authorities to deliver her to Italy's Social Welfare Agency for advanced care.
Discovering the Agency had covertly transformed the girl into the cybernetically enhanced assassin Triela, Hartman fiercely protested. Agency official Jean Croce compelled him to become her handler under the new identity "Hilshire," concealing his past. This role defined his function: overseeing Triela's training and missions as her partner.
Hilshire formed an intensely protective bond with Triela, unique among handler-cyborg pairs due to his minimal use of behavioral conditioning drugs.
