His bakery doubles as Anpanman's operational base. Tío Jam conducts daily patrols to identify those needing help and creates and maintains the capes worn by Anpanman and his allies. Anpanman came to life when a shooting star landed in Tío Jam's oven during the baking of an anpan. Stars, called "stars of life" in related media, connect to this event.

In the context of "Yōsei Rinrin no Himitsu," Tío Jam manages the connection between Anpanman's strength and the magical flowers provided by the fairy Rin-Rin, which are vital for sustaining Anpanman's power.
