Description
Aoi Kunieda commands respect as a second-year student at Ishiyama High School, leading the Red Tail gang, the strongest female delinquents in the Kantou region, as its third leader. She also stands among the elite as a member of the Tōhōshinki, the coalition of the school's most powerful fighters. Her contrasting private life emerges during park visits with her younger brother Kōta, where she adopts the alias "Aoi Kunie." Disguised in a simple dress, bucket hat, glasses, and pigtails, this appearance often leads others to mistake Kōta for her own child, causing her social discomfort.

She possesses waist-length dark blue or black hair with bangs, blue eyes, and stands approximately 162-165 cm tall. Her initial delinquent attire features an open white trench coat, cargo pants, chest bandages exposing her midriff, white boots, and a black string necklace with a golden ring. Briefly stepping down from Red Tail leadership, she wears the standard school uniform: a white blouse, loosely worn red tie, and dark blue skirt, later returning to her original outfit upon reclaiming command. For significant events like the Tōhōshinki arc, she dons a traditional hakama with her hair tied up.

As Red Tail's leader, Aoi projects a stern, serious, and fiercely determined persona, enforcing discipline among Ishiyama's female students and punishing harassers, earning her the moniker "Queen." Trained formally in the Shingetsu style by her grandfather, Ittōsai Kunieda, she wields various weapons, even ordinary objects like a ruler, with exceptional skill. Her combat prowess includes high-speed movements, precise analytical abilities, and techniques such as "Shingetsu: Nishiki Hyakka Midare Zakura" and "Shingetsu: Ichishiki Hagan Kiku Ichimonji," though assessments place her below Tatsumi Oga's level.

Beneath this formidable exterior lies a shy and easily flustered nature, particularly regarding her romantic feelings for Oga. Their first meeting occurs in the park, where Oga inadvertently defends her from a disrespectful officer, creating a positive impression. She misinterprets his subsequent vague requests to become Beel's "mother" as romantic advances, deepening her crush. This results in frequent blushing, jealousy towards Oga’s demon maid Hilda, and efforts to conceal her Kunie alias, fearing rejection of her true delinquent identity. Her emotional transparency clashes with Oga’s obliviousness, often causing her exasperation.

Key events drive significant evolution. After losing a rooftop confrontation with Oga—where she mistakenly blames him for her friends' injuries—she acknowledges her error and resigns from Red Tail to atone and seek closeness to him. She later aids Oga against school adversaries, using her influence to clear his path during the battle with Tōjō. Further development unfolds during a training trip with her grandfather and Oga, where she forms a pact with the minor deity Koma, gaining the ability to harness demonic power. This advancement later allows her to match Hilda in combat, surprising the demon maid.

Her background includes being the daughter of a local temple keeper, and she occasionally assists as a shrine maiden. Protective instincts extend beyond fighting; she lectures others on moral conduct, administers first aid—as seen treating Hilda—and prioritizes minimizing unnecessary violence at Ishiyama. This ethos initially puts her at odds with Oga, whom she deems responsible for escalating conflicts. However, their relationship shifts from adversarial to cooperative, underpinned by mutual respect and her unwavering personal affection.

She continuously balances her delinquent leadership, familial duties towards Kōta, martial arts discipline, and nuanced emotional growth, embodying a multifaceted character defined by this contradictory combination.
