Description
Asaji, the huntsman's son, shelters traveling monks Siddhartha and Dhepa. His father implores them to take Asaji along, but they refuse due to his disheveled state. Undeterred, Asaji pursues them relentlessly through monsoon rains, collapsing with fever. During his delirium, a divine vision reveals his fate: in ten years, beasts will devour him as retribution for his father's excessive hunting. Siddhartha saves him by drawing poisonous pus from his body.
Recovered, Asaji gains the divine gift of foreseeing natural disasters with flawless precision. His prophecies extend to human affairs, including King Bimbisara's death at his son's hands. Confronted about his grim destiny, Asaji displays no fear, accepting it calmly. When the decade ends, he willingly approaches starving wolf cubs, letting their parents tear him apart as sacrifice—witnessed by Siddhartha, who is deeply affected.
Asaji's journey culminates in his vision’s fulfillment, leaving an indelible mark on Siddhartha’s spiritual path.
