TV Special
Description
Koof hails from Murat, a planet conquered and later destroyed by an invading machine civilization. After Murat's fall, he emerges as a key resistance leader against the machines on Astria, adopting the alias "The Old Man" while exiled in the planet's desert wastelands.
For generations, Koof selectively bred Astria's royal bloodlines, manipulating genetics to produce individuals with enhanced abilities capable of resisting the machines. This long-term plan culminated in Prince Jimsa, who possesses powerful energy beam capabilities. Koof closely oversees Jimsa's development, believing the prince holds the key to humanity's survival.
Leading the underground resistance, Koof provides sanctuary to Queen Lilia and Prince Jimsa after their escape from the machine-controlled capital. He attempts to persuade Jimsa to embrace his prophesied destiny as humanity's leader against the mechanical invaders. Koof operates with robotic assistants, Arc and Beta, who aid the resistance despite being machines.
Koof's motivations extend beyond resistance; he advocates for the complete annihilation of all mechanical life, including potentially beneficial or non-hostile machines. This extremist stance creates significant ideological conflict within the narrative, positioning Koof as an antagonist to potential human-machine coexistence.
In the final confrontation, Koof collaborates with the cyborg warrior Il to implement a last-resort plan: triggering the destruction of Astria to ensure the total eradication of the machine civilization. Before the planet's destruction, Koof ensures Jimsa and his twin sister Affle escape in a spacecraft, preserving humanity's future. This act demonstrates his ultimate commitment to human survival, sacrificing his own life and the entire planetary population.
Undisclosed elements of Koof's background, including his connection to Murat's history and the full extent of his manipulation of Astria's royal families, gradually emerge throughout the story, adding complexity to his role as both protector and manipulator.
