Description
The character known as Doctor serves as the player's avatar and central protagonist. They awaken from prolonged stasis within Chernobog's Sarcophagus device, afflicted by complete amnesia with no memory of their past identity. Despite this loss, they retain exceptional tactical prowess, immediately leading Rhodes Island operators against Reunion forces during the Chernobog crisis.

Prior to amnesia, Doctor was a pivotal figure in Babel, Rhodes Island's precursor, serving as chief military strategist and commander under Sarkaz monarch Theresa. They collaborated with Kal'tsit and Theresa to improve the Sarkaz people's status. However, Doctor grew conflicted between Theresa’s idealistic goal of using Originium for utopia and their own race’s ancient "Originium Project." Believing Theresa’s approach naive against the cosmic Overseer threat, Doctor secretly allied with her brother Theresis. This alliance provided intelligence enabling Theresa’s assassination via the "Decapitation Operation," an act for which Kal'tsit and mercenary W still hold them responsible. Doctor sustained near-fatal injuries during these events, leading Kal'tsit to place them in the Sarcophagus to fulfill a promise to Theresa. Theresa herself likely erased Doctor’s memories before death to free them from past burdens.

Doctor belongs to the ancient Ancestor race, predating Terra’s current inhabitants. They lack Terran animal features and possess unique physiology: complete Oripathy immunity and blood with curative properties, used to save Amiya from an Oripathy crisis. Alongside Priestess, Doctor introduced Originium to Terra as an Overseer defense, unintentionally causing the Oripathy plague. They are also linked to the Rhodes Island landship’s ancient systems and the AMa android series.

Post-amnesia, Doctor acts as Rhodes Island’s field commander and tactician, directing operations against Reunion and other threats throughout the Chernobog-Lungmen conflict. They form a close, parental bond with Amiya, who fiercely defends them. Key developments include forging a sympathetic connection with Reunion leader FrostNova—saving her from rubble, comforting her as she dies, and honoring her by adding her name to Rhodes Island’s roster. Doctor displays ethical convictions, objecting to young operator Rosmontis’s deployment due to her disturbing combat methods. They participate in critical missions like halting Chernobog’s collision with Lungmen and confronting the mutated Mephisto. Beyond command, Doctor conducts Oripathy research, negotiates Rhodes Island’s commercial partnerships, and mentors operators like Ifrit and Projekt Red.

Fragments of Doctor’s past resurface intermittently. In the Sarcophagus chamber, they recall Priestess. Kal'tsit reveals details of Doctor’s role in Theresa’s death and her own conflicted obligation to protect them. Doctor’s ancient responsibility—choosing between activating the catastrophic Originium Project against the Overseers or preserving Terra’s current life at planetary risk—underscores the moral weight of their returning memories.
