Yuki Kaida is a Japanese voice actress and radio personality from Tokyo, Japan. Born on November 30, she began her career in 1993 and has since become recognized for a versatile vocal range that allows her to portray a wide variety of characters, from young boys to adult women. She is particularly known for her frequent roles as young male characters.
Before beginning her voice acting career, Kaida pursued a different artistic path. After graduating from high school in Tokyo's Shinjuku ward, she moved to the United States to study at the International University of Art and Music in San Diego, California. She spent four years there, majoring in musical theater. This background in musical performance contributed to her later skills as a voice actor. Following her studies, she returned to Japan to focus on voice acting, making her debut in the OVA Southern Wind as the character Himiko.
Kaida's first major and career-defining role came in 1999 when she was cast as Kurapika in the anime adaptation of Hunter × Hunter. The popularity of the series significantly raised her profile. She solidified her status as a leading voice actor for young male characters with her role as the gentle and talented Shusuke Fuji in The Prince of Tennis, which began airing in 2001. She has continued to voice this character in numerous sequels and OVAs, including The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup. Another notable lead role in this vein was as Abe no Masahiro in Shōnen Onmyōji.
In addition to these more serious roles, Kaida has demonstrated a talent for comedy and a wide vocal range.
