Description
The anthropomorphic mouse Skitter, known as Country Mouse, inhabits a rural setting within an alternate, fantastical world. He possesses gray fur, a slender build, and expressive mouse features. His simple country attire consists of a green acorn cap, a brown vest, and brown pants.

Skitter discovers the unconscious human protagonist, Aesop, who fell into this world, and immediately shows concern, attempting to assist him, revealing his compassionate nature. Living alone in the countryside, he experiences solitude and later views Aesop and their companions as found family.

Characterized by humility and contentment with a modest life, Skitter prioritizes safety over risk. He hosts Aesop, the spring elf Silkwing, and his cousin City Mouse for lunch, serving simple, healthful food reflective of his values. When City Mouse finds the meal unappetizing, Skitter takes no offense and accepts his invitation to experience city cuisine.

Visiting a mansion in the city proves pivotal. Initially joining the feast, Skitter grows uneasy upon overhearing a cat declare its intent to hunt mice. When the cat and companions attack, forcing a frantic escape, Skitter's aversion to danger solidifies. He declines further urban adventures, stating superior food is not worth the peril and stress of evading predators, reinforcing his core belief in valuing security and peace over luxury.

Following this event, Skitter chooses to journey with Aesop and Silkwing, driven by his lack of biological family and growing bond. During their travels, he exhibits supportive behavior, such as mediating conflicts between characters like the Tortoise and the Hare by offering massages during their race. He also displays curiosity and openness to new experiences while maintaining his inherent caution. His character consistently embodies the fable's moral of prioritizing a tranquil, uncomplicated existence.
