Description
Princess Marie Angelica, known as Marie Ange in Japanese lore, reigned over the Splendorius Kingdom—alternately called the Trump Kingdom. Daughter of King Mercenare, her peaceful life shattered when a grave illness struck. Desperate to save her, her father wielded the Golden Crown of Wisdom, unwittingly unleashing a sealed darkness that warped him into a tyrant. Recovered, Marie Angelica confronted him, sealing his corrupted form in stone with the Spear of Light. Fleeing through a magical mirror with her guard and confidante Mackenzie (Glitter Spade), she sacrificed herself by releasing Mackenzie’s hand to avoid dual capture.
Cornered by the antagonist Bel and on the brink of becoming a Distain, Marie Angelica fractured her psyche into two entities: Regina, her shadow self born from love for her father, and Natalie (Aguri Madoka in Japanese), her luminous half devoted to her people. Her physical body descended into dormancy as Dina. Her past intertwined with Sir Jonathan Klondike, her fiancé and knight, with whom she shared archery and sculpting before their separation during the kingdom’s invasion.
Years later, her frozen form was discovered but proven a decoy. Following King Mercenare’s defeat and restoration, her divided psyche in Regina and Aguri prevented her revival. In a posthumous novel set a year later, she communed with both halves, affirming Regina’s inherent goodness and thanking them for safeguarding her legacy. Defined by self-sacrifice and compassion, her duality endured through Regina and Aguri, who carried her conflicting traits and continued shaping the kingdom’s fate.
