Description
Princesse Marie-Angelica, originally named Princess Marie Ange in Japanese media, ruled the kingdom of Splendorius (Trump Kingdom). As the king's daughter, she lived peacefully until a grave illness struck. Desperate, her father unleashed darkness sealed within the Golden Crown of Wisdom. This cured her but corrupted him into King Mercenare (King Jikochuu). To protect her kingdom, she used the Spear of Light to seal her father in stone.
During the invasion by Mercenare's forces, she tried to escape through magical mirrors with her close friend and guard, Cure Sword (Mackenzie Mack/Glitter Spade). Cornered by the villain Bel and facing transformation into a Distain (Jikochuu), she released Cure Sword's hand to prevent mutual capture. Using her powers, she split her heart into two entities: Regina, embodying the dark half that loved her father, and Natalie (Aguri Madoka/Cure Ace/Glitter Ace), embodying the good half that loved her people. Her physical form reverted to a dormant state known as Dina.
She possessed long pink hair, blue eyes, and wore royal attire: a gold tiara with a red heart gem, a royal blue blouse with yellow accents, a pale blue gown featuring a heart-shaped gem, and gold earrings. As a younger teenager, she had twin tails with orange beads, wore shorter blouses and gowns, blue pants, black ankle straps, and dull blue flats. Characterized as calm and gentle, she enjoyed archery, sculpting, and flowers. Significant relationships included her fiancé, Sir Jonathan Klondike (Johnny), with whom she exchanged letters and roses; her deep friendship with Cure Sword; and her complex connection to Regina and Natalie as her split halves.
Later, the Pretty Cure (Glitter Force) discovered her frozen in ice on a mountain; Mercenare's forces subsequently kidnapped her to break King Mercenare's seal. After being rescued, she was hidden on Earth. It was revealed the frozen form was not her true self. Following King Mercenare's defeat and purification back into her father, revival proved impossible because Regina and Natalie had developed into complete individuals. She bid farewell, asking everyone to care for the fairy Ai, and disappeared. In a later novel adaptation, she briefly reappeared to express gratitude to Natalie and Regina, reassuring Regina about her inherent goodness and Cure qualities despite not being a full-time Cure, before fading away again. Her legacy persisted through her split halves and her father's restoration.
