TV-Series
Description
Ch'en Hui-chieh commands the Lungmen Guard Department's Special Inspection Unit, tackling illegal activities and organized crime with a track record of significantly reducing crime and casualty rates over two years. She later provides tactical command support for Rhodes Island during field operations.
Artificially created as a chimera by Lungmen's leader Wei Yenwu, preserved eastern dragon parts were integrated into her as a child. This granted her a high-quality magic core and exceptional magic circuits, though she initially struggled to control magical energy without a conduit. Raised alongside her sister Talulah (created with western dragon parts), Talulah was abducted by Wei's associate Kashchey during their youth, leading Ch'en to be primarily raised by Wei. She trained extensively in swordsmanship under Wei, graduating top of her class from the Royal Victorian Guard Academy. Upon returning to Lungmen, she joined the Guard Department, becoming its youngest Special Inspector and fastest-promoted officer.
Ch'en exhibits draconic features including horns, with black hair reaching her chest and purple eyes, standing 168 cm tall. Her personality is strict and by-the-book, characterized by mechanical efficiency in work and combat. She schedules time meticulously, often canceling leisure for duty, and maintains a reserved demeanor, rarely discussing her past or emotional state. Despite clashes with colleagues like Swire, she works effectively with them and shares a mutual understanding with her closest Guard Department associate, Hoshiguma.
In combat, Ch'en wields the high-mystery sword Chi Xiao, forged from tempered Originium. This weapon enables energy wave projection and negates Arts-based attacks. Her normal attacks strike twice per cycle. Skills include "Sheathed Strike" (physical damage with stun), "Chi Xiao - Unsheath" (hybrid physical and Arts damage against multiple targets), and "Chi Xiao - Shadowless" (a multi-hit targeting attack ending in a stun). She possesses the talent "Scolding," automatically restoring Skill Points to allies at regular intervals. Her draconic physiology grants superhuman strength, reflexes enabling gunfire evasion, acrobatic mobility, and survival of high-altitude falls.
Key relationships involve a complex dynamic with Wei Yenwu: she respects him as a mentor but distrusts him due to his morally ambiguous actions for Lungmen's benefit. Discovering Wei's purge of the slums during the Chernobog-Lungmen conflict caused her to depart Lungmen and join Rhodes Island as an independent operator, seeking to understand the world beyond the city.
