Description
Rau Le Creuset, born from the illicit cloning of Atlantic Federation politician Al Da Flaga by geneticist Ulen Hibiki, emerged as a flawed experiment marked by accelerated aging caused by shortened telomeres. Forced to depend on medication to counteract rapid physical deterioration, his youthful 25-year chronology clashed with his weathered appearance—blonde hair, piercing blue eyes, and facial wrinkles concealed beneath an iconic white mask. Disowned by Al Da Flaga as a genetic failure, Rau’s abandonment fueled a nihilistic philosophy, culminating in the arson of the Flaga estate and the murder of Mu La Flaga’s parents. Shedding his identity as Rau La Flaga, he adopted “Le Creuset” (“The Crucible”), symbolizing his desire to purge humanity’s corruption.
Driven by contempt for both Naturals and Coordinators, whom he deemed irredeemably self-destructive, Rau sought humanity’s extinction by engineering catastrophic warfare. Exploiting superweapons like GENESIS and nuclear armaments, he manipulated opposing factions toward mutual annihilation. Infiltrating ZAFT under the pretense of being a Coordinator, his tactical brilliance and unmatched spatial awareness propelled his ascent, enabling mastery of advanced systems such as the Providence Gundam’s DRAGOON remote weapons. Though respected within ZAFT, he remained loyal only to his apocalyptic vision, covertly leaking intelligence to stoke conflict between ZAFT, the Earth Alliance, and their leaders, Patrick Zala and Gilbert Durandal.
His legacy extended through Rey Za Burrel, a fellow Al Da Flaga clone mentored to perpetuate his ideology. During the First Alliance-PLANT War’s climax at the Second Battle of Jachin Due, Rau confronted Kira Yamato in a duel between the Providence and Freedom Gundams. Defeated yet unyielding in his conviction that humanity deserved eradication, he perished amid the ruins of his schemes. His existence—a product of hubristic genetic experimentation—became the foundation for his crusade against humanity’s inherent flaws, leaving a lingering influence on subsequent conflicts and ethical debates surrounding cloning and warfare in the cosmic power struggles that followed.
