Leina Haruka is a Japanese student traveling to Paris on a school trip aboard the luxury aircraft Lightning L808, depicted with auburn hair, pink eyes, and a school uniform that changes color to burgundy during the animation. This incarnation presents her as an ordinary schoolgirl with no combat experience or memory of fantastical elements from other stories; her classmates include Nami Kojima, Kyoko Yoshida, and Sara Yamada. Terrorists hijack the flight to seize the concealed experimental BIBLE Block weapon system. An explosion and security bulkheads separate Leina and a young boy named Ryo from other hostages.

Initially inexperienced and fearful, Leina shows resilience during the crisis. Following instructions from ICPO agent Laika Strange, she maneuvers through the aircraft's ventilation system towards the secondary cockpit controls. Terrorist leader Zarik detects her progress and pursues her using a mechanized combat suit created by the BIBLE tech. Leina hides in the cargo compartment but is cornered by Zarik's lieutenant Luna. After Zarik kills Luna during a confrontation, Leina helps Ryo jettison the cargo pod containing Zarik and the BIBLE system into the Arctic Sea, neutralizing the threat.

Throughout the ordeal, Leina exhibits concern for others, particularly comforting Ryo. Her actions, driven by necessity rather than skill, contribute to resolving the situation. She reunites with her classmates after the crisis. This specific narrative exists separately from other continuities, featuring no alternative identities or supernatural abilities.
