Description
Inukai Hanayo is the homeroom teacher for Class 1-2 at Kaminoki High School, overseeing students like Kohane Hatoya, Uki Sawatari, and Kotetsu Tatejima. She teaches math and helps Kohane formally establish the Cheer Association by guiding them through the necessary paperwork for official recognition.
She sports relatively short silverish-purple hair, typically tied in a single pigtail, and consistently wears glasses partially concealed by her hair. Though an adult in her late twenties or early thirties who retains a youthful look, she exhibits sensitivity about her age.
Inukai displays an eccentric and occasionally immature personality. She openly criticizes Kohane's academic struggles, labeling her a "bird brain," and tries dodging responsibilities when students present urgent requests. However, she demonstrates underlying support, advocating for Kotetsu to use the school's abandoned music room for piano practice when home practice was impossible. Her background includes a past as the renowned "Creative Dancer Inukai" during junior high, a fact Kohane uncovers via a recorded performance DVD and confirmed by Kumagai-sensei, her childhood friend and colleague. This revelation compels her to accept the Cheer Club advisor role, though she vehemently refuses to wear a cheer uniform herself, stating she would "kill herself" rather than do so at her age.
As the Cheer Club's advisor, Inukai handles logistical tasks like transporting equipment, coordinating with event staff, and providing limited guidance during activities. These duties frequently leave her exhausted, collapsing physically. Despite initial reluctance and complaints, she attends performances and gradually invests more in their progress. Her commitment deepens when appointed director of the school's Sports Festival Executive Committee by the principal.
Her development shows a shift from avoidance to reluctant dedication. While she continues voicing exasperation over the role's physical demands, her consistent presence at key events—training camps, uniform fittings, and tournaments—underscores her growing, if grudging, support for the club's endeavors.
