Description
Fumiko Otonashi, nicknamed Meganeko, is a 12-year-old residing with her grandfather Kitan Otonashi and pet dog Nanarin while her parents explore Africa. She lives near protagonist Bashin as his childhood friend, harboring a longstanding romantic interest despite his frequent obliviousness. Initially shy, obedient, and tear-prone due to past bullying, she evolves after confronting her insecurities and embracing Battle Spirits.

Feeling neglected when Bashin prioritizes new friends, she trains under reluctant mentor Card Sensei, adopting a yellow-attribute deck and defeating him in her first official match. Competing anonymously as "Kiiroko" in a spring tournament—disguised in a yellow variant of Suiren’s outfit—she triumphs over Smile but falls to Bashin. This loss awakens her as a chosen battler, granting a butterfly-shaped yellow pyroxene stone that enables communication with Nanarin and access to Isekai World. Post-awakening, she swaps her signature large round glasses for contacts, though friends retain her glasses-derived nickname.

Her deck focuses on yellow attributes, later integrating purple; key cards include The ArcAngelia Valiero and The PhantomLord Rean—the latter gifted by Kitan after their duel. Joining Team Shomen Toppa to rescue friend J from the Thousand Spirits Group, she supports Bashin emotionally during J’s defection. Investigating her grandfather’s secrecy, she uncovers his past as retired Number Ten of the Numbers Elite under King Uchuuchouten. Defeating Kitan in a duel, she compels him to surrender his X-rare card and acknowledge her growth.

Partnering with Kyouka Sawaragi in the King Uchuuchouten Cup, she battles brainwashed relatives Kitan and Kyouka’s father (Number Three). Losing and captured for stone extraction, she is freed by allies. Witnessing Bashin’s final clash with Uchuuchouten, her pyroxene depletes as a "life," severing her Isekai World access and silencing Nanarin. The epilogue shows her attending concerts and card battle centers with friends, reflecting social integration.

In the manga adaptation, she remains Bashin’s classmate and friend without engaging in card battles, pyroxene development, or her grandfather’s Numbers Elite ties.

Physically, she has long light-brown hair and blue eyes with square pupils, initially wearing large round glasses. Her typical attire is a dark blue shirt under a yellow dress—short-sleeved in summer—plus a yellow swimsuit with a four-leaf clover design and a brownish-orange skirt.

Her battle record includes victories against Card Sensei, Kyouka, Smile, Elliott, and Kitan, alongside losses to Bashin, Suiren, and unnamed tag-match opponents.
