Kumata emerges as an original character designed exclusively for this film's story. A bear-like inhabitant of the Magical World, he participates in the centennial festival celebrating the Wish-Granting Stone's return, accompanied by a small bear cub. Consumed by despair and resentment after losing his companion cub during the festival, Kumata merges with an antagonistic force. This negative energy corrupts him, transforming him into an entity of Dark Matter. As Dark Matter, he becomes the film's primary antagonist, embodying his profound despair and malice. Dark Matter further evolves into a heightened threat known as Shadow Matter. His corrupted grief and anger drive the central conflict, specifically his pursuit to seize and misuse the Wish-Granting Stone's power. His arc involves direct confrontation with the protagonists, Pretty Cure, especially during their powerful Heartful Style state. Their conflict culminates in Pretty Cure deploying their special "Heartful Rainbow" attack against him. Resolution comes through the restoration of his lost bear cub. The cub's return breaks Kumata's connection to the Dark Matter entity. Separated from the corruption, he reverts to his original bear form, reunited with the cub.
