Halle Lidner, also known as her real name Halle Bullock, is a former CIA and United States Secret Service agent. She joins the Special Provision for Kira (SPK), operating under Near, L's successor, and like other members, uses a false identity for protection against Kira's killing method requiring a name and face. Her motivation for joining the SPK is a personal vendetta after a close acquaintance was killed by Kyosuke Higuchi during his time as Kira. While aligned with Near, she remains neutral in the rivalry between Near and Mello, another of L's successors. She periodically leaks SPK intelligence to Mello, sometimes directly on Near's orders, creating a complex dynamic. This includes letting Mello hide in her apartment, where she avoids Near's surveillance—such as bugs on her clothing—by updating Mello during showers. Near assigns Halle to infiltrate Kiyomi Takada's security team as an undercover bodyguard. Her mission is to uncover Takada's connection to Kira while maintaining her cover as a diligent handler. Her professionalism, beauty, and proximity to Takada elevate her public profile, making her a minor media figure. During this assignment, she assists SPK agent Anthony Rester in apprehending Misa Amane and Kanzo Mogi. Halle's loyalty to Mello surfaces when she facilitates his kidnapping of Takada during a diversion by Matt. She hands Takada over to Mello and directs other bodyguards to pursue his motorcycle, though he escapes. Later, at the site of the fire where Takada was held, Halle shows visible concern upon realizing Mello died. In the final confrontation between Near and Light, she speculates that Mello's actions in kidnapping Takada were instrumental in exposing Kira, implying his sacrifice enabled their victory. After Kira's defeat, she continues working with Near, Rester, and Stephen Gevanni, as depicted in a one-shot chapter set three years later. Differences exist between her manga and anime portrayals. In the anime adaptation *Relight 2: L's Successors*, which condenses the series' second arc, Halle does not hide Mello in her apartment; instead, he takes her hostage during their initial encounter. The anime also omits scenes of her sharing SPK intelligence with Mello, though she retains her role in transferring Takada to him. Her character is described as an "individual thinker" with "first-rate" bodyguard skills, highlighting her independence and competence. Physically, she is tall and slender with golden hair, fair skin, and golden-brown eyes, typically dressed in professional attire.
