Ezekiel Stane is the son of Obadiah Stane. Rumors indicate his father injected nanomachines into his brain during childhood to enhance his intellect. Before his father's death, Ezekiel faked his own demise to operate underground, becoming an arms dealer affiliated with organizations such as A.I.M. while developing advanced biotechnology called Technovores. Following his father's death, Ezekiel inherited his father's illegitimate assets.
His vendetta against Tony Stark stems from blaming Stark for his father's demise. During the launch of Stark's Howard surveillance satellite, Ezekiel dispatched mercenaries called the Raiders as a diversion. While Iron Man and War Machine engaged the Raiders, Ezekiel infiltrated the launch center and eliminated the staff. He confronted Iron Man directly, overpowering him in combat before departing. The subsequent explosion of the facility severely injured War Machine.
Tracking Ezekiel to a repurposed Stark Industries facility in Shanghai, Stark attempted to reason with him. Ezekiel dismissed any connection, citing his distant relationship with his father. When Stark made physical contact, Ezekiel deployed Technovores to invade and paralyze the Iron Man armor. He revealed his plan to use the Howard satellite to hack global computer systems and weaponize satellites, intending to eradicate humanity and replace it with his techno-organic vision.
Apprehended by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, Ezekiel was transported to the Helicarrier. Aboard, the Technovore breached S.H.I.E.L.D.'s systems, nearly causing a crash. Iron Man stabilized the craft using his arc reactor, but the Technovore betrayed Ezekiel, assimilating his body and transforming him into a monstrous entity. This transformation led to a destructive battle that resulted in the Helicarrier crashing into Shanghai.
During the final confrontation, Iron Man allowed himself to be captured by the Technovore-controlled Ezekiel. He instructed War Machine to target his arc reactor with the Howard's defense laser. The resulting energy surge destroyed the Technovore, defeating the entity. Ezekiel survived, stripped of the Technovore, and was taken into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody.
Ezekiel's primary abilities stem from controlling the Technovore. This grants him flight without visible propulsion, surpassing Iron Man's speed. He generates energy spheres that can morph into javelin-like weapons, infect surroundings, disrupt technology, or detonate remotely. The Technovore allows him to dissolve and reshape metal structures, creating extensive networks or constructs like a giant replica of his father. It also enables rapid regeneration, as demonstrated when he regrew a severed limb.
His combat skills proved formidable, allowing him to overcome both Iron Man and War Machine. Despite possibly augmented intelligence, he demonstrated genius-level intellect by creating and controlling the Technovore while managing arms dealings at a young age. However, the Technovore caused debilitating headaches that paralyzed him during battles. This weakness escalated until he lost all control, becoming a mindless monster. The Technovore bio-tech armor served as his primary equipment, integrating his biological systems with the techno-organic weaponry.
