Description
Kurumi Mugen, codenamed "War Nurse," is a battle-hardened former soldier and magical girl who emerged from the Distonian War as one of only five survivors from an original eleven-member unit. Shaped by a traumatic history of familial abuse and relentless bullying, she clings to Asuka Ōtorii—the comrade who rescued her during the war—with an obsessive devotion that dictates her every choice.

Her fixation drives her to switch schools for constant proximity, expressing romantic longing through feeding rituals, tactile closeness, and emotional neediness. Unspoken admiration blossoms into a confessed romance when Asuka reciprocates her feelings, leading them to share a home and a life with roommate Sachuu after sealing their bond with a kiss.

Within M-Squad, Kurumi adopts the grim role of interrogator and torturer, wielding pain to extract secrets while shielding Asuka from battlefield horrors. Though she relishes inflicting suffering, her true drive remains protecting Asuka—a priority that leads her to claim the squad’s darkest tasks. This dichotomy peaks when exposed torture methods nearly drive her to suicide, fearing Asuka’s repulsion, until her partner’s steadfast acceptance pulls her back from the edge.

Her magic intertwines healing arts with chemical mastery and combat defense. She injects truth serums into captives, paralyzes foes with syringes, and conjures reactive shields that deflect assaults. Close-quarters confrontations see her employing Brazilian jiu-jitsu, while her "Magical Calorie Roll-Up" technique fortifies defenses through cascading barrier layers.

Relationships fracture and mend around her—she nurses resentment toward Tamara Volkova after the brainwashed soldier kisses Asuka, though later concedes to Tamara’s lack of agency. With Mia Cyrus she shares ironclad trust, while former rivals Chisato and Nazani now follow her lead through hard-won cooperation.

Wartime ghosts and the clash between healer’s compassion and soldier’s brutality haunt Kurumi’s path to stability. She navigates this duality by anchoring herself to Asuka’s love and her unyielding commitment to M-Squad’s cause, stitching together fragments of normalcy amidst unrelenting violence.
