Description
Reiichirou Miyanoshita, born in 1961, is an engineer and the widowed husband of Kayako Miyanoshita, as well as the father of Satsuki and Keiichirou Miyanoshita. He is a man in his late thirties with slightly tan skin, charcoal-gray hair, and dark eyes. As a child, he wore a blue jacket with red stripes on the sleeves over a sky blue-and-white-striped shirt with forest-green shorts.
In the original Japanese version, Reiichirou is a loving parent who remains largely unaware of his children's supernatural activities and does not believe in ghosts. He is often absent and inattentive due to his work.
The English dub adaptation portrays him as a well-meaning but troubled single parent who struggles with alcohol following his wife's death. This has resulted in difficulties paying bills and maintaining stable employment, leading his daughter Satsuki to take on most household chores. She once mistakes a supernatural event for the power being shut off due to unpaid bills. The dub also implies he may be a cross-dresser when his son Keiichirou pleads with him to wear a wig and a dress to pose as his mother to stop school bullying. A notable quote from this version is, "I'm a little hung over, so can we talk about this later?"
