Kunio Ashida, a 78-year-old supermarket owner on the outskirts, was once a champion competitive archer, winning multiple national titles. After his athletic career, he turned to business, carrying a strong distrust of foreigners. His archery skill remains remarkably proficient, possessing Robin Hood-like accuracy. Catastrophic earthquakes bring the Mutou family seeking refuge at his store, and he joins their survival group. Their journey leads them to the commune Shan City. Within Shan City, Kunio attempts to escape, resulting in his imprisonment. From his cell, he taps out a critical warning in Morse code. Ayumu Mutō and the group eventually decipher his message, revealing the commune leader's dangerous practices involving communication with the deceased, posing a grave threat.
