Originally Reverse Convoy, an Autobot energy production expert from Vehicon, Rebirth Megatron utilized a black hole link system for energy generation. This system created a vulnerability exploited by the displaced spark of the original Megatron. Mortally wounded by Grand Scourge during an attack targeting his Energon Matrix, Reverse Convoy was then possessed by Megatron. The Decepticon leader traveled to Earth, assumed Reverse Convoy's identity, and infiltrated the Autobot ranks. He gained Optimus Prime's trust during their conflict with Beast Megatron over Earth's solitarium resources. Maintaining the deception temporarily, Megatron later revealed himself as Rebirth Megatron and launched a surprise attack against the Autobots. After his betrayal was exposed, he allied with Beast Megatron to pursue their shared conquest goals.

Latent transwarp energies within Megatron's spark, a consequence of the Trigger explosion a decade prior, enabled the possession. This energy displaced him across time and space. His personal connection to a black hole allowed him to seize control of Reverse Convoy's body through the Autobot's singularity-based systems, an intervention that paradoxically saved Reverse Convoy from Grand Scourge's fatal assault. This possession constituted a multiversal incursion, as the original Megatron originated from a different continuity. His presence was an anomaly driven by impatience to return to his native timeline, not to exploit the energy-rich period. Following his defeat alongside Beast Megatron, all solitarium conflict combatants were returned to their proper points in space and time. Expelled from the body, Megatron left Reverse Convoy, who expressed regret for his form's unintended role in the deception before being restored to his original timeframe.
