Description
Ross is a royal soldier tasked with escorting Alba, the 45th hero descendant, on his demon crisis quest. He possesses extensive knowledge of the demon threat's true nature, exceeding his companions' understanding and making him a critical figure. Ross frequently exhibits sadistic behavior towards Alba, engaging in physical abuse and verbal mockery as part of a comedic straight-man routine.
Trapped on an interdimensional plane by Januar Ein's magic during the second season, Ross encounters the demon lord Ruki. He later collaborates with Ruki and Januar to escape, utilizing a portal Ruki opens when Samejima's attack disrupts the plane. Upon returning, Ross confronts Dezember Zwolf, the de facto leader of the twelve demons.
Ross harbors immense latent magical power but deliberately suppresses its use to prevent the revival or release of the first Demon King, Rchimedes. This restraint stems from his past: his best friend Crea's body was possessed by Rchimedes, and Ross became the vessel imprisoning the demon king. This connection drives his motivations.
Despite his antagonistic demeanor, Ross demonstrates genuine concern for Alba. He appears visibly distressed when Alba is temporarily killed, offers strategic advice disguised as insults, and gifts Alba a dagger while denying sentimental intent. Their relationship evolves into mutual reliance, with Ross later expressing sadness during their separation.
In combat, Ross wields an oversized sword and can effortlessly overpower formidable opponents like Dezember and Juli Sieben when accessing his full capabilities. His deadpan snark and trollish behavior serve as defense mechanisms and tactical distractions. Key actions include thwarting the first Rchimedes' revival and orchestrating a fake kill scare involving Alba during their final battle against the demon king.
Ross's background involves pivotal historical events tied to the demon king's initial sealing. His knowledge encompasses truths about the hero Creasion's lineage and the king's manipulative schemes to regain glory, informing his cynicism and layered loyalty toward his mission and Alba.
