Description
Ichiro, designated Kikaider 01, functions as the prototype and older brother model to Jiro (Kikaider). Dr. Komyoji created him as a contingency weapon against catastrophic threats, sealing him within a statue until Jiro awakened him to counter SHADOW and the Hakaider Squad's resurgence. Lacking Jiro's GEMINI Conscience Circuit, Ichiro initially displays an impulsive, combat-driven personality, skeptical of human emotions. He views robots purely as tools and deems Jiro's conscience circuit a flaw.
Initially dismissive of human life and prone to violence, Ichiro evolves through exposure to Jiro and human struggles. He demonstrates protectiveness toward robotic siblings Rei (Kikaider 00) and Mieko (Bijinder), risking himself to shield Jiro and civilians. Despite his rough exterior, he cultivates a sense of duty, advising Jiro tactically and expressing regret after misjudging allies like Rieko. His maturation surfaces when urging Jiro to prioritize strength for human protection, reacting with uncharacteristic bashfulness when acknowledged.
Ichiro's combat prioritizes raw power over finesse, rendering him physically stronger but less technically refined than Jiro. His arsenal includes a retractable right-arm machine gun and the chest-mounted "Sunrise Beam" solar-energy blast. Unlike his tokusatsu incarnation, this version lacks solar-energy restrictions, enabling transformation and combat in darkness. He pilots the Double Machine motorcycle with a sidecar for ally transport.
During SHADOW's final conflict, Gill-Hakaider captures Ichiro, Rei, and Mieko, implanting obedience circuits. Reprogrammed as minions, they battle Jiro until he destroys them to halt SHADOW's rampage. In the OVA *Guitar o Motta Shōnen - Kikaider vs. Inazuman*, Ichiro manifests spectrally within Jiro's subconscious. He questions the value of Jiro's conscience circuit, suggesting its removal to assuage guilt over their demise. Silently witnessing Jiro's reaffirmation of humanity, Ichiro dissipates, indirectly aiding Jiro's psychological recovery.
