Anubias is an artificial Gundalian created by Mag Mel to serve as an antagonist in Bakugan Interspace. Crafted to resemble a Gundalian, his human form features pale white hair and gold-patterned indigo clothing, bearing similarities to Spectra Phantom and Shadow Prove. His Gundalian form manifests horns, spiked armor, and a distinctive crescent-shaped scar on his forehead that appears when enraged, a result of his humiliating defeat by Dan Kuso. He leads Team Anubias, a group of male brawlers dedicated to dominating Bakugan Interspace. His primary attribute is Darkus, with Darkus Horridian as his guardian Bakugan. He also commands other Bakugan including Pyrus Bolcanon, Aquos Krakenoid, and Haos Krowll, alongside Mechtogan such as Darkus Smasheon (summoned by Horridian) and Aquos Venexus (provided by Mag Mel). Mag Mel occasionally supplies enhanced Bakugan like Darkus Iron Dragonoid for his missions. Anubias possesses a fiercely competitive and ruthless personality, employing any tactic to win. He openly despises weakness or excuses, demanding absolute ruthlessness from his team. While primarily obsessed with defeating his rival Dan Kuso, he occasionally shows concern for teammates, such as entrusting Noah with Horridian to enhance Noah's skills. This obsession to surpass Dan often overshadows Mag Mel's strategic objectives, leading him to prioritize personal victories. His arc begins by challenging Dan in Bakugan Interspace, where he secures an initial win by exploiting Drago's loss of control. He later claims the Bakugan Interspace Championship due to Dan's disqualification. After multiple failed attempts to defeat Dan using Chaos Bakugan and Mechtogan, Anubias kidnaps Noah to lure Dan into a final battle. During this confrontation, he deploys nearly all resources, including Venexus Titan. Before the battle concludes, Mag Mel remotely absorbs Anubias's life force and powers, erasing him from existence. In a final appearance, he manifests as a vision to Noah, acknowledging Noah's growth and encouraging him to battle on Earth. Following his death, Team Anubias disbands, though former members like Noah occasionally reference the team name. His Bakugan, including Horridian, Bolcanon, and Krakenoid, are listed as deceased or destroyed.
