Description
Akari Seto is a first-year education student at the same university as Sorawo Kamikoshi. Residing alone in a Saitama apartment following her parents' relocation, she sports brown hair swept left with bangs and matching brown eyes, often wearing a mini T-shirt dress under a blue men's coat.
Her cheerful, energetic, and carefree personality makes her socially adept, easily forming connections while remaining polite to seniors despite occasional cold receptions. Unconcerned with others' opinions, she exhibits persistent enthusiasm that sometimes annoys peers like Sorawo. Akari openly admires distant individuals, particularly Sorawo, whom she follows due to fascination with her strong will and aloof demeanor.
Akari won a prefectural karate tournament in high school and continues training at her former dojo, skipping university martial arts clubs to join the cooking club. There, she demonstrates skill in dishes like stir-fried meat, vegetables, and miso soup. Her supernatural involvement began when Ninja Cats—Otherside entities—repeatedly attacked her, leading her to seek Sorawo's aid. This incident revealed her past tutoring by Satsuki Uruma.
She deepened her Otherside ties after her childhood friend Natsumi Ichikawa suffered a curse from the entity Sannukikano. During the confrontation, Sorawo's "blue eye" triggered Akari's berserk state, enabling her to violently defeat Sannukikano and break the curse on Natsumi's family. This marked her official entry into Otherside exploration alongside Sorawo, Toriko Nishina, and Kozakura.
Beyond her bond with Natsumi, Akari formed friendships during group activities like a hotel girls' night. Her courage and support bolster the team, though she confuses transitional areas with the Otherside's true nature. Her admiration drives her to follow Sorawo to locations such as Kozakura's residence or the DS Research Club.
Etymologically, "Akari" combines "deep red" and "reason," while "Seto" means "swift current, rapids" and "door." Nicknamed "Karateka" for her martial expertise, she retains paranormal fascination after the Ninja Cats incident, fueling her ongoing Otherside pursuits.
