Description
Scott Masterson, originating from the 1987 animated production, serves as the primary human host for the Ultraman Scott entity. Before encountering extraterrestrial forces, he performed aerial demonstrations as a member of stunt pilot trio "Flying Angels" alongside Chuck Gavin and Beth O'Brien. During a routine flight exhibition, their aircraft collided with three luminous entities from Nebula M78. The catastrophic equipment destruction left all three pilots miraculously unharmed but facilitated a permanent fusion between Masterson and the Ultraman Scott being from Planet Altara.
Initially, Masterson could only activate the transformation during life-threatening situations, signified by intense ocular luminescence. Through subsequent experience, he gained voluntary control over this metamorphosis without requiring any physical catalyst device. Post-fusion, Masterson joined the Ultra Force organization under Walter Freeman's guidance, operating from concealed headquarters within Mount Rushmore and utilizing advanced fighter craft designated Ultra Jets.
Masterson's personality includes romantic pursuit of attractive women, particularly Dr. Susan Rand of the Federation for Extraterrestrial Research (F.E.R. Labs), with whom he develops a meaningful relationship. He demonstrates creative initiative by assigning nicknames to the support robots Ulysses and Samson. In combat, his alter ego Ultraman Scott displays formidable physical capabilities: 82-meter stature, 64,000-ton mass, flight at Mach 24, forearm strength of 210,000 tons, and grip strength of 99,000 tons.
His tactical repertoire includes the Granium Beam executed in a cross-armed configuration, the Ultra Energy Ball projectile, the circular Ultra Slicer saw-blade attack, and the Ultra Throw maneuver. During the Sorkin Monster incursion, he defeated the mechanized insectoid Garuballade by discarding its armored shell with an island throw before vaporizing its organic core Eem with combined beam techniques. He later contributed to neutralizing the exponentially growing King Myra by transporting it solar-ward alongside his teammates.
The Scott Masterson/Ultraman Scott composite entity appears in subsequent Ultra Series installments. During the Plasma Spark crisis, he participated in the failed defense against Ultraman Belial's assault on the Land of Light. In the Absolutian conflict, Ultraman Scott joined Ultra Force colleagues in ambushing Absolute Titan at Planet Babel under Zoffy's orders, later confronting Tartarus directly alongside reinforcement Ultras including Zero, Leo, and Astra before enemy forces retreated.
The character later assisted Ultraman Regulos against Alien Reiblood's monster resurgence, specifically defeating Gandar before contributing to combined beam attacks that destroyed Reiblood's physical vessel. Throughout these engagements, the composite being maintains its established operational parameters, including transformation mechanics and special abilities, while demonstrating continued allegiance to universal peacekeeping objectives alongside fellow Ultras.
