Description
Jūbē Ōkuma serves as a core member of the Celebrity Five, a team of human criminals operating under Loki's command. He wields a katana as his primary weapon, favoring direct combat. Initially, Ōkuma opposes Loki's destructive methods, advocating for quieter, more efficient criminal operations, especially during the Hulk's mind-controlled rampage.
When the Avengers storm the Celebrity Five's ship to rescue hostages, Ōkuma confronts Thor but proves unable to match the Asgardian's power, forcing his retreat alongside Loki and the team. His subsequent missions include an attack on Techno Isle, where he partners with Rosetta Riley to deploy Sabretooth. This plan fails when Sabretooth betrays them, compelling Ōkuma to forcibly D-Secure the villain back into his DISK.
Ōkuma later identifies mutant Noriko Ashida, whose powers could free the Avengers from their DISKs. Exploiting her self-loathing toward her abilities, he offers to remove her powers in exchange for stealing the Avengers' DISKs. After she complies, he betrays her, takes her captive, and collaborates with Rosetta Riley to trap Wolverine. Captain America thwarts this trap.
Following Loki's initial defeat, Ōkuma and the Celebrity Five are arrested. Crossbones breaks them out of prison transport, steals their Biocodes, and forcibly recruits them into Hydra. Under Hydra, Ōkuma resents his new role but follows orders to guard a Gaia Anchor alongside Abomination. When Edward Grant and Hulk arrive to destroy the Anchor, Ōkuma and Joel Murphy facilitate Ed's infiltration by disguising him as a Hydra soldier. Their assistance is self-serving, anticipating benefit regardless of whether Ed succeeds or fails against Red Skull.
After Hydra dissolves, Ōkuma and the Celebrity Five become fugitives. While salvaging valuables from their old lair, Loki contacts them from banishment, restores their Biocodes, and orders them to prepare for his return. Ōkuma participates in an attack on a security conference to steal energy from Iron Man's armor. Loki then assigns him to steal the Rainbow Teardrop gemstone from Tony Stark's museum. For this mission, Ōkuma releases the vampire Baron Blood from a DISK, the vampire's extreme wickedness unsettling him. Despite Baron Blood's defeat by Blade, Ōkuma escapes with the gemstone.
The Rainbow Teardrop is the first Treasure of Darkness required for Loki's Dark Gate device, designed to open a portal to the Dark Dimension and free Dormammu. Ōkuma and the Celebrity Five are promised dominion over Earth in exchange for their help. However, once the portal opens, Dormammu drags them into the Dark Dimension, revealing their betrayal. After Loki and Dormammu are defeated, Ōkuma and his team escape the Dark Dimension through unknown means, remaining at large by the series' conclusion.
Ōkuma possesses a blue Biocode, enabling him to D-Smash Fight-type villains from their DISKs and D-Secure them back into containment. His combat style consistently relies on his katana.
