Description
Nakane Makoto, a freshman transfer student at Harajuku’s Kamimori Private Academy, reluctantly joins the drama club at his best friend Wakabayashi Satoru’s insistence, only to face its impending dissolution due to denied student council funding. Simultaneously, childhood acquaintance Abegawa Nozomi—now a classmate—pressures him to champion her fledgling study club, forcing him to navigate clashing loyalties.

Within the drama club, Makoto collaborates with members Saitou Koyuki, Hoshi Reika, and Uehara Mei to salvage their upcoming performance amid institutional hurdles. After both clubs are denied financial support during a pivotal council meeting, Makoto joins tense café debates with peers to forge survival strategies.

A turning point unfolds during rooftop script rehearsals with Koyuki, followed by a rain-drenched park meeting where Makoto, arriving late, reassures her of their shared resolve, stressing mutual trust as key to overcoming adversity. These moments cement his deepening commitment to the club.

His dynamic with Nozomi, rooted in their junior high past, adds nuance to his divided priorities. Their bond, marked by the nickname “Mocchi” (derived from alternative kanji readings of her name), underscores lingering familiarity amid competing obligations.

Makoto’s choices—club allegiances, interpersonal ties—steer his path, influencing potential romantic outcomes and narrative trajectories. As the drama club races to finalize their performance despite unresolved funding woes, themes of perseverance and unity emerge, framing Makoto as a pivotal figure balancing academic, social, and personal trials in a landscape of institutional indifference.
