Snarl and Undermine served as Scourge's bodyguards, protecting his temple from intruders. Their duty faced challenge when Megatron and Starscream demanded entry; distrusting Megatron, Snarl abandoned his post to seek Backstop's counsel. Backstop had rescued Overhaul, an injured Autobot whose testimony of Megatron's destructive quest for the Cyber Planet Keys contradicted Megatron's claims. This revelation spurred Snarl to arrange a meeting between Overhaul and Scourge. The audience deteriorated as Overhaul's confrontational style provoked Scourge into a duel. Witnessing Scourge overpower Overhaul, Snarl intervened to save the Autobot from fatal burns, concealing him within an active volcano.
