Adamantus is a sculptor in ancient Syracuse. He crafted a notable statue of the Goddess of Love, later destroyed and replaced under the king's orders with statues of fierce lions. Adamantus befriends Melos (called Philios in the English dub). When Melos is granted three days to attend his sister's wedding, Adamantus volunteers as a hostage. This pact ensures Melos will return to face execution; should Melos fail to return, Adamantus will die in his place. Adamantus remains imprisoned, awaiting Melos' return and facing potential execution.
