Description
Takejirō Nakane serves as the second eldest son of Otokichi and Yoshi Nakane, positioned between older brother Tadayoshi and younger siblings Kisaburō, Kayoko, and Kounosuke. His diligent academic focus draws his father’s attention, who envisions a future for him as a doctor or professor, noting temperamental parallels to their uncle Koutarō.
Within family interactions, Takejirō balances occasional aloofness toward Kayoko with shared moments of mentorship alongside his brothers. His role as an older sibling surfaces in sporadic teasing and roughhousing with the others.
His narrative converges with the Pacific War’s turmoil. After their home burns in an air raid, the family attempts shelter in a locked school building, entering through windows. Kisaburō succeeds first and waits inside, but Takejirō remains outside with his parents, Tadayoshi, and Kounosuke. They perish in the attack, leaving Kisaburō and the separately evacuated Kayoko as sole survivors. Takejirō’s death occurs offscreen during Tokyo’s firebombing.
