Description
Yū Azuma, a first-year student at Joshu East High School, returned to Japan after studying ballet in Canada until eighth grade. Driven by an intense, unwavering ambition to become an idol, she executes a calculated master plan for stardom. This plan involves strategically recruiting three other girls—one from each of the four regional high schools representing north, south, east, and west—to form an idol group.

Her recruitment methods rely on deliberate manipulation and deception: feigning interest in robotics to befriend Kurumi Taiga, challenging wealthy Ranko Katori to a tennis match to win her trust, and reconnecting with former classmate Mika Kamei solely because Mika attends the necessary northern school. Yū views these friendships instrumentally, considering the others primarily as tools for career advancement rather than individuals with their own dreams. She organizes volunteer activities and public events designed to attract media attention, masking her true motivations by claiming they are for group bonding.

Yū exhibits narcissistic and controlling tendencies, especially under stress. She forces Mika to break up with her boyfriend to comply with idol industry rules, bluntly admitting she wouldn't have befriended Mika knowing about the relationship. When group activities deviate from her plans, such as during a volunteer event separation, she becomes visibly agitated, prioritizing collective visibility over the activity's purpose. Her mother acknowledges Yū's flaws when confronted, confirming Yū can be "a terrible person."

Mounting pressures strain her relationships, leading to emotional confrontations where the other girls challenge her actions. These conflicts culminate in a fallout where Yū's single-minded ambition risks destroying the group and her friends' mental well-being. Following this rupture, a period of reflection and reconciliation occurs. Yū gradually acknowledges her faults, leading to a resolution where the group mends their relationships and recommits to their shared idol aspirations with mutual respect. The story concludes with a time skip implying their continued pursuit of dreams into adulthood, though their specific success remains undetailed.
