Description
Aoi Nanamori, called Nue, is a 17-year-old Taurus born on May 9. Cast aside by his parents for seeing ayakashi, he became Guardian of Momochi House at seven but claimed the role at ten by forcibly entering the property, triggering his transformation into the Nue—a destiny meant for Himari Momochi. This act severed his ties to the human world, binding him eternally to the house.

As Nue, he manifests hybrid traits: cat ears, avian wings, and a fox tail, wielding power to purge hostile ayakashi and bridge human and spirit realms. Bound to him through pacts forged in protection, his shikigami include Yukari, a serpentine water spirit; Ise, a gruff orangutan; and Hakka, an exiled spirit-realm gatekeeper vying to succeed him. Their bonds mirror kinship, anchored in vows he swore to shield them.

Aoi’s past lingers in childhood friend Hayato Hidaka, whose fractured memories defy the house’s erasure. Isolation and duty forge a guarded but fiercely loyal nature, especially toward Himari, whose safety he prioritizes over confessing his love. This restraint falters as the Dark Nue—a corrupted former guardian—reemerges, destabilizing the house and contesting Aoi’s right to protect. Their clash exposes Aoi’s creeping metamorphosis into a half-ayakashi, teetering on losing his humanity should his power wane.

Guilt haunts Aoi, convinced his emotional vulnerability hastens his transformation. When the Dark Nue brands him a fraud, their battle leaves Aoi mortally wounded, with a masked stranger proclaiming his demise. Yet his resolve endures, balancing self-sacrifice and duty against the house’s hunger to consume him. Each choice underscores a fragile duality: guardian and ayakashi, lover and protector, mortal and myth.
