Description
Kana Ichikawa is the older sister of Kyotaro Ichikawa, daughter of Yumiko and Yuusaku Ichikawa, and granddaughter of an unnamed grandmother. A third-year student at Waseda University in the Political Science and Economics department, she has brown neck-length hair, blue eyes, and pale skin. Her typical attire includes a dark blue skirt, a white baggy sweatshirt, red and white tennis shoes, and black socks. She stands notably taller than her introverted younger brother despite their close age difference. Childhood photos show her wearing braces and glasses.

Outgoing, extroverted, and friendly, Kana's personality sharply contrasts with Kyotaro's shyness. She shows caring yet sometimes intrusive curiosity about his life, particularly his social interactions and relationships, frequently teasing him by showing old school photos or appearing unexpectedly in situations he finds embarrassing. While sensitive about her own lack of romantic experiences, she supports Kyotaro's relationship with Anna Yamada. Her earnestness is seen in dedicated pursuits, like repeatedly practicing making takoyaki at home before starting her part-time job at a takoyaki shop, where she works alongside trainee Jin Sota.

Her typical sibling dynamic with Kyotaro involves intense curiosity about his growing closeness with Anna Yamada, frequently questioning him or trying to extract details. Despite causing him embarrassment, she becomes his confidante when he seeks relationship advice. She expresses visible jealousy over his romantic success compared to her own dating life. Kana shares a notably positive bond with Anna Yamada, developing a platonic admiration for her almost as a sister figure, including inviting Anna for overnight stays. She expressed shock that her brother connected with someone as popular and striking as Anna, who personally confirmed the romantic relationship to Kana.

Beyond academics, Kana plays in a university band called Primary COLOR with friends. Her name combines the characters for "fragrant" (香) and "vegetables/greens" (菜). A dedicated spin-off manga titled "Love Comedy ga Hajimaranai," centering on Kana's experiences and supervised by the original series creator with art by Haika Nanasaka, is scheduled to begin serialization on July 22, 2025.
