Description
Mithril Lid Pod is a small fairy with blue eyes and silver hair accented with light blue. He is a water fairy, having been born from a droplet of water from the great lake of Loess in the north of Highland. As a labor fairy, he was originally intended for manual work under human ownership. His debut occurs when the candy crafter Anne Halford finds him being mistreated by his master, a fairy hunter who stomps and beats him. Anne intervenes and saves him. Although Mithril Lid Pod generally dislikes humans due to the harsh treatment fairies endure in a world where they are treated as property, he feels a strong sense of obligation to repay Anne for her kindness. He insists on joining her on her journey, becoming a loyal traveling companion and friend.
Mithril Lid Pod is determined and proud, demanding that others address him by his full name rather than a shortened version. He can be blunt and outspoken, but beneath his prickly exterior he is earnest and protective of those he considers friends. His motivations stem from a desire to honor the debt he owes Anne, and over time he grows to genuinely care for her and her goals. His role in the story is to provide both practical support—using his ability to generate and manipulate small amounts of water—and emotional grounding, often reminding Anne of the realities of the world while also encouraging her.
His key relationships include Anne Halford, whom he respects and watches over despite his initial wariness of humans, and Challe Fen Challe, the fairy bodyguard Anne purchases. Mithril Lid Pod shares a cautious dynamic with Challe, as both are fairies with different views on humans, but they learn to cooperate for Anne’s sake. Through his experiences on the road, Mithril Lid Pod develops from a purely self-interested fairy focused on repayment into a more empathetic and loyal companion who values the bond he has formed. His notable abilities include hydrokinesis, enabling him to create and control small quantities of water, which proves useful in various situations. He also demonstrates cleverness and initiative, as seen when he organizes a ghost hunt at Holly Leaf Castle to preserve the peace. Despite his small size, Mithril Lid Pod carries a strong presence and becomes an integral part of Anne’s journey.
