Driven by persistence and intuition, Mezato pursues stories with intense determination, sometimes overlooking personal or others' safety. This trait leads her to investigate the LOL Cult, resulting in her temporary brainwashing by the cult leader Dimple, who uses psychic powers to force laughter. Her strong will manifests in refusing control or orders from others, including spirits. Shigeo Kageyama (Mob) rescues her when he dismantles the cult. Witnessing Mob's psychic powers during the confrontation, Mezato deduces his abilities and identifies him as a messiah figure. As a perceptive non-esper without special powers, she becomes instrumental in founding and leading the Psycho Helmet Cult, which venerates Mob, organizing it despite being a middle school student and attracting adult members. Her primary narrative involvement centers on the LOL Cult Arc. Her name, Ichi Mezato, combines "Ichi" (イチ) meaning "one" and "Mezato" (米里) combining "rice/paddy" (米) and "village" (里).
