Description
Inukai Iroha, a vibrant and forthright second-year at Private Wangan Second Junior High School, possesses a deep love for animals. Each morning she walks Komugi, her Papillon dog, adopted years ago after finding the injured puppy abandoned in heavy rain. This experience cemented her dedication to animal welfare and her dream of befriending every animal worldwide. Her parents run the Friendly Animal Hospital & Salon, supporting her care for Komugi and offering solace during difficult moments.

When Komugi, transformed as Cure Wonderful, faces peril, Iroha awakens as Cure Friendy, the purple Pretty Cure, using the manifested Wonderful Pact compact. Her transformation cry, "Wonderful!", echoes her optimism. As Cure Friendy, she gains enhanced athletic prowess and ribbon-based powers: the Ribbon Barrier for defense and the offensive Friendly Ribbon to bind foes. Later, the Diamond Ribbon Castle treasure unlocks her Diamond Ribbon Style, amplifying her combat and purification abilities.

Iroha's enthusiastic and transparent nature makes secret-keeping challenging, causing awkwardness when concealing her Pretty Cure identity or Komugi's ability to speak. This honesty defines her relationships: she confides her secret to childhood friend Toyama Satoru, unaware of his romantic feelings until he confesses. After initial confusion, she reciprocates, deepening their bond through mutual support in battle. She also befriends shy Mayu Nekoyashiki and her cat Yuki, eventually entrusting Mayu with Cure secrets. Iroha persistently offers friendship even to antagonists like the wolf spirit Torame, mourning his departure to the afterlife.

Key developments include Iroha temporarily transforming into a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel due to unstable magic from Niko, the unicorn guardian of Niko Garden. While retaining speech, she battled canine instincts before reverting. During the final conflict against Gaou, she and Satoru briefly assumed Cure-like forms to aid Komugi and Daifuku, though these abilities faded afterward. Her deepest trial came when Komugi's original owner appeared, threatening separation. Iroha's heartfelt plea preserved their bond, strengthening their sisterly connection. She later demonstrated resilience by reviving Komugi through their emotional link after Komugi's sacrifice against Gaou.

Iroha's name reflects her essence: "Inukai" (犬飼) meaning "dog keeper" and "Iroha" (いろは) suggesting "colorful leaves or feathers." Her alias Cure Friendy, inspired by a child's pronunciation of "friend," embodies her theme of bonds. A recurring motif is her "hands together" gesture during introductions, representing "friend" in sign language.
