Ryoko Kaminagi is Kyo Sogoru's cheerful childhood friend, sharing his daily life at Maihama Minami High School. An active member of the school's Video Club with aspirations to become a film director, she frequently involves Kyo and their friends in her creative projects. Her perceptive nature allows her to detect subtle shifts in Kyo's behavior, even when he tries to conceal them, such as during their aquarium visit. She becomes the first in Kyo's circle to awaken to the artificial nature of their reality, accepting this truth more readily than Kyo. As a Celebrant, Ryoko fights to safeguard irreplaceable aspects of existence, driven primarily by a desire to protect Kyo from bearing burdens alone. Her abilities earn her recognition as a "Witch," a specialized Wizard capable of forming a near-telepathic link with a Gunner in combat. This designation leads to her assignment as the new Wizard for the Altair mecha. However, during her first battle, her data suffers severe damage. While eventually restored, a critical consequence emerges: her apparition within the Maihama server loses all emotional expressiveness. The component containing her emotional data becomes trapped and isolated within the Altair system, inaccessible elsewhere. Consequently, her emotional core remains locked within the mecha during real-world battles, separating her feelings from her projected presence in the simulated world she once inhabited.
