Description
Kaguya Makabe is Subaru Makabe's younger brother and ranks among the youngest members of the elite Seven Shadows. A close childhood bond fractured when Kaguya's consistently superior talent led him to replace Subaru as the Makabe family heir, prompting Subaru's departure and fostering deep resentment in Kaguya, who perceived the exit as cowardice.
Personally, Kaguya appears blunt, stoic, and standoffish, radiating confidence in his abilities and pride in his Seven Shadows status. He favors solitude and relentless self-improvement. Interactions with Subaru are overtly hostile; Kaguya openly belittles him during their first World Ranking battle, dismisses reconciliation, and emphasizes their perceived power gap. This antagonism conceals profound pain, stemming from Kaguya's belief that Subaru hates him for the family's rejection.
A pivotal shift occurs in the Shadow Area. Confronted directly by Subaru, Kaguya confesses his anguish over the abandonment. Subaru clarifies he never hated Kaguya but battled self-loathing and inadequacy. This honesty allows Subaru to breach their emotional barriers using Masquerade Ghost, Sincere, securing victory and culminating in reconciliation as Kaguya acknowledges Subaru's sincerity.
Post-reconciliation, Kaguya gives Subaru a data box containing Draconir's memories and warns of a traitor within the Seven Shadows, citing manipulated member data only possible via external interference. During the Shade invasion of Nekome City, Kaguya aids the defense. Contacting Shion to locate Subaru, he is directed to Gaia Tower. When the tower collapses following Erde's defeat, Kaguya rescues Subaru and Itsuki using his Divine Contractor card.
Kaguya ultimately chooses to leave the Makabe household to live with Subaru. This decision follows his realization that their father prioritizes the family's social standing over his children's well-being, solidifying Kaguya's commitment to rebuilding their brotherhood.
In Shadowverse, Kaguya employs a Havencraft deck. His strategy centers on followers that activate potent effects when the player holds two or more evolution points, forgoing standard evolution. Key components include the Absolute Shrine amulet to empower these followers and his ace card, Divine Contractor, which shields them while clearing opposing fields. He also utilizes Evil Shrine to unlock their full potential by circumventing evolution point costs.
