Description
King Shark, also known as Nanaue, is a metahuman member of Task Force X possessing the physical characteristics of a shark. His towering, heavy-built physique features grayish skin, a dorsal fin, flanges on each side of his neck, and multiple rows of sharp teeth. He initially wears a sleeveless orange prisoner suit, later adopting stonewashed denim overalls covering half his torso and legs down to his knees.
Nanaue exhibits cognitive abilities comparable to a five-year-old child, resulting in minimal verbal communication. His personality is dominated by relentless bloodlust and constant hunger, driving him to indiscriminately devour opponents including pig-like creatures, werewolves, and human adversaries. This manifests as an unstoppable, brutal frenzy in combat. Despite these traits, he demonstrates loyalty to teammates, particularly protecting Harley Quinn by mercilessly consuming a servant who slapped her. He gradually forms bonds through shared experiences like sharing food with Harley and cooperating during missions.
Biologically, Nanaue breathes underwater and swims with enhanced skill. His immense strength allows him to mutilate enemies effortlessly, while his extreme endurance enables him to withstand impacts like dragon bites or being slammed against rocks unharmed. He possesses surprising speed despite his size, heightened senses including an acute sense of smell to detect threats, and competent reflexes and hand-to-hand combat skills evidenced by blocking sword attacks with his teeth.
During missions, Nanaue devours pig-like creatures after a helicopter crash, aids prison escapes by ramming through cell doors, protects Harley Quinn by eating a noble who assaulted her, suffers defeat underwater against Killer Croc, and receives enchanted armor enhancing his abilities in the final battle against the Undead King's army. His development includes moments of vulnerability, expressing frustration after losses, and bonding with teammates during quieter intervals like sharing meals or napping alongside Harley.
Prior to Task Force X, Nanaue was captured and imprisoned by A.R.G.U.S. His arc shows progression from a purely instinct-driven entity to one capable of coordinated teamwork and displaying concern for others, though inconsistently due to his childlike intellect and predatory nature.
