Description
Rutile Flores hails from the Town of Clouds in the Southern Country. His mother, Tiletta, was a powerful Northern witch who moved South, and his father was a human schoolteacher and poetry lover. This dual heritage cultivated Rutile's appreciation for both magic and human culture. As a child, he learned magic and broom-riding from Tiletta, while his father nurtured his love for literature and education. Known as an energetic and kindhearted boy, Rutile was cherished by his community. Northern wizards Figaro and Mithra knew his family; Mithra served as Tiletta's apprentice and attended Rutile's childhood birthday parties.

A pivotal event occurred when Rutile was six. During his brother Mitile's birth, complications endangered both Tiletta and the unborn child. With no alternatives, Tiletta instructed Rutile to channel his magic to save Mitile. Rutile complied, praying fervently for his brother's survival. This act saved Mitile but cost Tiletta her life and permanently depleted half of Rutile's magical power. Rutile expresses no regret, emphasizing his brother's survival was worth the loss. Shortly after, his father passed away, orphaning Rutile and infant Mitile. The brothers relied on community support, with Figaro and the Northern wizard Lennox assisting their care. Though Mithra had promised Tiletta to protect her sons, his involvement after her death remains unclear.

As an adult, Rutile became a schoolteacher in the Town of Clouds while raising Mitile. He embodies optimism and gentleness, consistently focusing on positive outcomes and advocating for harmony between humans and wizards. His teaching extends beyond academics; he guides and encourages people of all ages, demonstrating wisdom and empathy. Rutile maintains an open-minded approach, seeking peaceful resolutions even with morally ambiguous individuals like Mithra. He believes in others' inherent goodness and envisions a future of cooperative coexistence. However, he tends to internalize personal struggles, avoiding discussions of negative experiences to protect others.

Physically, Rutile is fairly tall with a dirty blond bob-cut and soft olive green eyes, closely resembling his late mother. He typically wears a long brown coat over a black cardigan and white shirt, paired with navy blue jeans and brown boots. Distinctive accessories include earrings with yellow and white tassels attached to a vibrant green pearl, and a simple string necklace with a small ring decal. His wizard crest is located on his inner right wrist.

Despite his responsible demeanor, Rutile exhibits carefree tendencies. He often dives into new interests enthusiastically but abandons them quickly. He inherited his mother's high alcohol tolerance, frequently drinking with older wizards like Figaro or Bradley, leading to hangovers that prompt gentle reprimands from Mitile. An adept broom flyer, Rutile enjoys high-speed flights and precise maneuvers that unsettle others. He is also an artist, favoring abstract, colorful styles, though he can produce realistic drawings when desired. His designated major arcana card is "VII: The Chariot," and he is theorized to draw inspiration from the story "The Blue Bird."

Rutile's personality underwent early conceptual changes. Initially envisioned as reserved and introverted like Heathcliff, this characterization complicated interactions with Mithra. Consequently, Rutile was redesigned with a brighter disposition, while Mitile transitioned from an energetic, selfish child to a more reserved counterpart.
