Description
Riquet Ortiz is a young wizard from Central Country, summoned as one of the Sage's chosen. Revered from birth as an apostle of God within an isolated eschatological cult, his entire upbringing occurred inside the cult's church. The cult preached the end times, monitored the Great Calamity, and taught Riquet that magic was a divine gift meant only for helping others. This left him ignorant of the outside world and wholly reliant on the Priest's teachings.

Constant exposure to jewellery crafted from fragments of a collapsed star, which had intoxicating effects similar to "wizard catnip" on others, granted Riquet immunity to such influences. His austere life in the cult included never being served warm meals, leading to fascination and internal conflict when first experiencing Nero's cooking. Enjoying food felt indulgent and sinful, reflecting his struggle with concepts of personal preference previously dictated by the cult.

Riquet exhibits an overly serious, blunt, and honest personality, often expressing himself with childlike innocence and unintentional harshness. Accustomed to reverence, he initially found the lack of special treatment at Magic Headquarters confusing and offensive. Despite displays of maturity, remnants of his sheltered upbringing surface in entitled behavior, such as demanding Mitile make a promise during their time at Borda Island despite knowing the problematic consequences, leading to mutual discomfort when refused.

His development includes academic growth under Rutile's tutelage, learning to read and write alongside Mitile. Riquet took pride in this progress, composing letters to others like Nero and Bradley despite initial clumsiness. He remains devout, frequently lecturing fellow wizards on perceived sins. His black-and-white worldview faces ongoing challenges as exposure to moral complexities forces him to reconcile cult teachings with reality, creating internal conflict about his dual role as a disciple and a Sage's wizard.

Physically, Riquet appears slightly shorter than most, with light blond hair styled to conceal his wizard crest and muted green eyes. His attire reflects his religious background, featuring muted blue and cream tones reminiscent of clerical garments.
