Description
Tarō Sakamoto, once a legendary assassin hailed as the strongest operative within the Japanese Association of Assassins' elite Order, executed missions with ruthless precision, cementing his feared reputation across the criminal underworld. His unbroken record of success fractured after a fateful meeting with Aoi, a convenience store clerk whose demand for him to abandon violence led him to retire, marry, and embrace a quiet family life. Now co-owning a Tokyo convenience store, he navigates a community-focused existence, though remnants of his past resurface through vengeful adversaries and challengers questioning his retirement.

Physically, Sakamoto towers with a robust frame, steel-gray hair pulled into a ponytail, a trimmed broom mustache, and round glasses masking his eyes—a stark departure from his former lean, sharp-faced assassin persona. His daily attire of casual clothes, aprons, and slippers underscores his mundane routine. When combat demands, he metabolizes stored fat to temporarily regain a sleeker, mustache-free form, amplifying his agility and strength while sharpening his features into a more conventionally striking visage.

Privately reserved and driven by action over words, Sakamoto anchors his morality to his family’s safety, strictly adhering to Aoi’s non-lethal mandate to protect their domestic peace. Though calm under pressure, threats to his wife Aoi, daughter Hana, or allies Shin and Lu—whom he views as kin—ignite near-feral protectiveness, toeing the line of his no-killing vow. Fleeting dark impulses, like mentally envisioning murder over petty irritations, hint at his buried assassin instincts, which he methodically suppresses.

Key bonds define his world: Aoi, whose love reshaped his identity; Hana, for whom he withstands physical extremes; Shin, a telepathic protégé and brother-like confidant; Lu, a redeemed triad member turned loyal aide; Nagumo, a longtime Order ally offering tactical expertise; and the spectral influence of Rion Akao, a fallen comrade whose legacy fuels ongoing strife.

Despite diminished physical capacity—estimated at 30% of his prime—Sakamoto’s combat prowess remains formidable. He halts speeding cars, outmaneuvers collapsing structures, and weaponizes mundane objects with lethal accuracy. Enhanced durability lets him survive brutal impacts, while tactical ingenuity compensates for waning strength, exploiting surroundings to subdue foes non-lethally. Though capable of briefly reigniting his prime’s lethal agility through transformation, he increasingly masters his current physique, relying on cunning over fleeting power surges.
