Description
Ryōka Tsurumi, a high school student living in a large residential building, awakens on Christmas Eve to frantic texts from her mother. The messages warn of an emergency lockdown triggered by a dangerous entity called "X" on the rooftop. This creature brainwashes humans, using them to capture others so X can feed on human blood for sustenance and reproduction.

Initially confused and frightened by the sudden lockdown and her mother's panic, Ryōka discovers her childhood friend, Shuhei Murosaka, is also in the building. They encounter X, a monstrous being wielding razor-sharp tendrils that inflict brutal violence. During their escape attempt, both Ryōka and Shuhei fall prey to X's brainwashed victims and are devoured by the creature.

After death, Ryōka awakens again in her room on the same morning, reliving the sequence: receiving her mother's messages and facing X's threat. This recurrence traps her in a time loop, forcing her to endure the horrific events repeatedly. Each loop resets the circumstances, but Ryōka retains memories of her past experiences.

Through repeated cycles, Ryōka evolves from panic and confusion toward determination and strategic action. She recognizes the necessity of partnering with Shuhei to survive and break the cycle. Her primary goals shift to protecting Shuhei from X's attacks and preventing his brainwashing. She leverages knowledge from prior loops to alter their approach each time, finding ways to evade capture and understand X's behavioral patterns.

The relentless loops force Ryōka to endure extreme physical and psychological trauma, including witnessing Shuhei perish repeatedly and experiencing her own gruesome deaths. Despite this, her resolve strengthens as she focuses on uncovering a path to a "safe future" free from X. Her relationship with Shuhei deepens through their shared ordeal, transitioning from reliance on his protection to active collaboration. She reflects on their past bond and prioritizes ensuring his survival above all else.

Across the loops, Ryōka demonstrates increasing adaptability. She uses retained knowledge to make incremental progress in understanding the lockdown's mechanics and X's vulnerabilities, inching closer to solutions. Her development centers on overcoming helplessness through trial and error, driven by the imperative to secure a future where both she and Shuhei escape the time loop and X's predation. Her ongoing journey implies further adaptation and challenges in subsequent cycles.
