Description
Honami Mochizuki is the drummer for the pop rock band Leo/need, formed with her childhood friends Ichika Hoshino, Saki Tenma, and Shiho Hinomori. Her family consists of a hairstylist father, a mother who works as a stylist with models, a younger brother, and a pet dog named Shibao. During middle school, Honami experienced significant social difficulties; her efforts to support classmates across different groups led to accusations of being "two-faced," causing her to distance herself from Ichika and Shiho to shield them from bullying. This strained their friendship until Saki's return from hospitalization enabled their reconciliation and the band's formation.

Physically, Honami possesses light dusty rose hair, typically styled in a right-sided ponytail secured with a blue scrunchie, blue eyes, and a relatively tall stature for her age. Her first-year casual outfit featured a cream hoodie over a black shirt, a light brown skirt, dark grey pantyhose, and black Mary Jane shoes. As a second-year, she wears a white puffy-sleeved blouse under a pink sleeveless jumper dress, brown boots, and a brown-and-gold watch. Her band uniforms include an early design with a red-trimmed white blouse, black ribbons, and boots, later evolving to a grey-black lapel coat over a white collared shirt, a pleated skirt, and knee-high boots.

Academically strong and athletically capable, Honami balances studies with band commitments while serving on the school beautification committee alongside Shizuku Hinomori. She works part-time as a housekeeper for Kanade Yoisaki, assisting with domestic chores and occasionally offering advice. Her personality centers on kindness and consideration for others, though this historically led to indecisiveness and fear of causing disagreement. Experiences with Leo/need gradually strengthened her courage, enabling her to advocate for compromise among classmates and encourage Shiho to rely on the band. She maintains a strong interest in astronomy, often sharing constellation knowledge, and exhibits a notable fondness for apple pies.

Her relationships reflect her supportive nature: she walks dogs with Minori Hanasato, helps Kohane Azusawa learn to swim, and assists Akito Shinonome in overcoming his fear of dogs. Within Leo/need, she values Ichika's consistent support, Saki's positivity, and Shiho's candid feedback, recognizing its role in mutual growth. She maintains respectful interactions with Saki's brother Tsukasa Tenma, appreciating his concern for Saki while discouraging Shiho from labeling him negatively. In the film "COLORFUL STAGE! The Movie: A Miku Who Can't Sing," Honami participates in Leo/need's efforts to assist a distressed version of Hatsune Miku through performances aimed at restoring hope and emotional connections across fragmented realities.

Her character development traces an evolution from a people-pleaser stifled by others' opinions towards someone who asserts her beliefs without compromising kindness. Commissioned songs like "Hare wo Matsu" initially reflected her uncertainty and lack of identity, while later works signify her commitment to protecting Leo/need as her purpose. Symbolism in her focus event cards, such as broken pottery repaired with gold, represents her growth from past struggles into a more resilient individual. Through these experiences, Honami redefines kindness as requiring the courage to voice genuine thoughts, moving beyond silent compliance toward active, authentic support.
