Description
Mizuki Akiyama is a high school student and the video editor for the online music group Nightcord at 25:00. Captivated by Kanade Yoisaki's music, they joined the group and create animations and music videos. Mizuki exhibits an energetic, teasing personality, often engaging in playful banter with fellow member Ena Shinonome. Despite this outwardly carefree demeanor, they demonstrate maturity, acting as a mediator during group conflicts and showing perceptiveness about others' emotions. Mizuki tends to guard personal feelings and secrets, maintaining distance due to a fear of rejection if their true self is revealed.

Since elementary school, Mizuki faced treatment as an outcast because of their distinctive fashion style and honest personality. They wear clothes selected and made by their older sister, Yuuki—a fashion designer living overseas who inspired Mizuki's love of fashion—which drew both compliments and harsh judgment from peers. This criticism caused frustration and a reluctance to attend school regularly to avoid negative attention. During junior high, Mizuki frequently spent time on the school rooftop, forming a friendship with Rui Kamishiro, one of their few friends before Nightcord.

Mizuki's experiences with societal rejection create a sense of relatability toward others facing similar identity struggles. They feel a personal connection to Mafuyu Asahina's conflicts, recognizing parallels in their challenges. While initially hesitant to intervene in Mafuyu's deteriorating family relationship, feeling unable to help due to their own avoidance of problems, Mizuki later offered advice about the validity of "running away" as an option, emphasizing it can lead to unexpected gains. This perspective helped Mafuyu confront her mother. Despite this supportiveness, Mizuki harbors envy toward Mafuyu's active pursuit of self-discovery, contrasting with Mizuki's choice to keep personal struggles concealed.

Within Nightcord's activities, Mizuki contributes during a crisis involving a distressed version of Hatsune Miku. When this Miku's inability to connect through song threatens multiple realities known as SEKAI, Nightcord collaborates with other musical units to create new music aimed at restoring hope. Mizuki's group specifically performs the song "Soko ni Aru, Hikari." ("The Light That Dwells Here") as part of this collective effort. Their participation aids in revitalizing the despondent Miku and mending the fractured realities.

Mizuki's name carries symbolic meaning: "Akiyama" (暁山) combines "dawn" or "sunrise" (暁) with "mountain" (山), while "Mizuki" (瑞希) is a unisex name meaning "congratulations" (瑞) and "hope" (希).
