Description
Hoshino Ichika is a high school student and musician from Shibuya, serving as lead vocalist and guitarist for the pop rock band Leo/need. Her name originates from her parents' story, meaning "one song" (一歌), reflecting their meeting through a shared favorite song.

During childhood, Ichika formed close bonds with friends Saki, Honami, and Shiho through stargazing and music. These relationships strained after Saki's hospitalization, leading to limited communication during middle school. Following Saki's return and their visit to the School SEKAI—an alternate dimension born from shared emotions—Ichika gradually reunited the group to form Leo/need, named after the meteor shower they witnessed as children.

Initially listless upon entering high school, Ichika transformed through music into a more courageous and determined individual. She reconnected with her friends, began composing original songs for Leo/need, and practiced street performances to hone her skills. She later utilized Hatsune Miku's voicebank software for music creation. Ichika harbors deep admiration for Hatsune Miku, whose songs she has cherished since childhood for relaxation and inspiration. She views Miku as a catalyst for musical connections and befriends other Virtual Singers like Kagamine Rin and Len.

Personality-wise, Ichika appears stoic initially but is modest, kind, and deeply caring toward friends. Though occasionally struggling with communication, she demonstrates sincerity and protectiveness—traits shown when defending Shiho or confronting Honami's bullies. This evolved into focused determination for her band and musical expression.

In the events of "Colorful Stage! The Movie: A Miku Who Can't Sing," Ichika encountered an alternate Hatsune Miku unable to emotionally connect through song. After Ichika's resonant street performance of "glow," this Miku sought her guidance. Ichika helped by demonstrating Miku's songs and Leo/need's music, collaborating with other bands to teach emotional conveyance. When the alternate Miku's collapsing SEKAI threatened all Virtual Singers, Ichika joined a coordinated performance of original songs across bands to restore hope, enabling Miku to reach her audience.

Beyond her band, Ichika admires Nene's singing and takes vocal lessons from her, seeks advice from idol Haruka, and gains street performance confidence from Kohane. She interacts with Nightcord at 25:00 members—discussing composition with Kanade and gifting Miku-themed cookies to Mafuyu.

As a second-year student at Miyamasuzaka Girls' Academy, Ichika balances academics with Leo/need's professional activities while maintaining her commitment to connecting people through music.
