Description
Amate Yuzuriha, alias Machu, is a 17-year-old student living in Side 6's Izuma Colony with her mother Tamaki while her diplomat father works off-world. Though raised in privilege, she views her environment as artificial and suffocating, breeding discontent and aimlessness. This fuels friction with her image-conscious mother. Amate habitually skips school and displays volatile impulsiveness, lashing out at perceived slights or unfairness.
Her routine shatters upon meeting Nyaan, a war refugee smuggling illicit goods. After Nyaan breaks Amate’s phone and plants an illegal Installer Key for mobile suits in her bag, Amate baits her with a decoy. Their clash pulls them into the Pomeranians clan’s underground mobile suit dueling circuit. Witnessing police Zakus assault refugees, Amate’s outrage drives her to hijack a Zaku, then steal the advanced GQuuuuuuX mobile suit. Despite zero training, she instinctively activates its Omega Psycommu system, channeling heightened reflexes to disable the Zakus with athletic precision.
Adopting her childhood nickname "Machu," she joins the Pomeranians as their Clan Battle pilot, seeking escape from monotony and chasing the "Kira-Kira"—Newtype sensory surges during combat. She partners with Shuji Itō, a fugitive graffiti artist piloting the Red Gundam as her "MAV" (mobile assault vanguard). Their resonant Newtype bond enables telepathic coordination, though Machu initially struggles to interpret others through it, feeling isolated.
