Description
Hon Akraptor is a Regular who climbs the inner Tower during the events of the Workshop Battle arc. His past is marked by a profound personal loss, as he married a woman from one of the Ten Great Families and had a daughter with her. The family of his wife forcibly took both his spouse and child away from him, leaving him with nothing but the memory of them. A gold earring he wears on his right ear is actually his former wedding ring, a physical reminder of what he lost. This tragedy is the primary motivation for his ascent of the Tower, as he seeks to gain enough power to protect those precious to him and to avoid the agony of losing his daughter again.

Akraptor cuts a distinctive figure, being a tall, lean man with close-cropped silver hair and light-colored eyes. His personality is initially abrasive and cynical, and he displays a jerkish, sarcastic demeanor. He does not get along well with others at first and his reputation suffers to the point where he is disliked even more than the mysterious Slayer candidate, Jyu Viole Grace. He is willing to use manipulative tactics, such as proposing a vote to eliminate the weakest-looking participant, a young girl named Yeo Miseng, during their first test on the 20th Floor. However, this hard exterior masks a more complex individual. As he becomes a member of Team Tangsooyook, Akraptor evolves into the voice of reason within the group. He takes on a responsible, counselor-like role, often intervening to calm down upset team members when personal feelings threaten their cooperation. His protective instincts are especially pronounced around Miseng. She reminds him of his own lost daughter, and he begins to climb the Tower not just to regain his past, but to protect her, finding a new purpose that fills his previous emptiness.

Within the context of the Workshop Battle, Akraptor is a supporting but reliable member of his team. He initially views Viole as a dangerous monster after a brief confrontation but gradually develops a grudging respect and sympathy for his situation. He is pragmatic and willing to form temporary alliances for survival, as seen when he teams up with Kang Horyang to face Viole. On Team Tangsooyook, led in practice by Ja Wangnan, Akraptor serves as a steadying influence. He gives sound advice to the hot-tempered Yeon Yihwa, telling her that she needs Viole because other teams would not tolerate her inability to control her flames. He also enjoys teasing the easily-riled Prince. During the Workshop Battle on the giant vessel Archimedes, Akraptor participates in the Plug game tournament, where he is relieved to find that Prince and Miseng are safe. He follows Khun Aguero Agnis's strategic plans and confronts enemy Regulars, balancing his own desire for power with loyalty to his team. In a notable moment, he supports Wangnan's decision to help Viole, even when the team's leader wavers, demonstrating his growing trust and belief in his comrades. This loyalty is profound, as he is later shown to be willing to sacrifice himself for Wangnan.

Akraptor is a capable fighter, though not on the level of an Irregular or a member of the Ten Great Families. His notable abilities center on his unique weapon, a black-and-white striped lance that can transform. In its offensive form, it serves as a long-range lance capable of firing concentrated blasts of Shinsu. Defensively, it can open up like an umbrella to form a sturdy shield. He demonstrates considerable accuracy and power with his Shinsu blasts, managing to push back against powerful opponents like Viole and Horyang during early tests. His skills allow him to perform well in ranked tests, such as the Shinsu/Strength Test on the 20th Floor. His development throughout the Workshop Battle arc is one from a self-serving, cynical survivor into a more unified and responsible team player, whose primary driving force becomes the protection of the new family he has found in his companions.
